- Due to the extreme popularity of monthly Barn Dances and great two stepping Country Music at this establishment, Mooney Hollow Barn was expaneded on the north, east and west sides of the barn to hold a large capacity of people as it still exists today.  Also a loft area was built in the barn to hold additional people to support private parties.
- In 1981, Country Legends from Nashville Tennessee were hired to perform at the barn
-- The late Grand Ole Opry Legend, Roy Acuff  performed at the barn on Nov 14, 1981
-- Additonal Nashville Stars of Ernst Tubb, Faron Young, Porter Wagner, wife of Jim   Reeves, Kitty Wells & Bill Anderson performed on the Mooney Hollow Opry stage from 1982 to 1983.
- In 1982, Mr Russ Hayward had a huge fiddle painted on the silo that exists next to the barn.  This masterpiece of art work has made this legendary barn a landmark for locals and  tourists to take pictures of the huge fiddle on the silo and has put this barn on the map..
- Mooney Hollow Barn was purchased by Marvin and Judy Manning in 1986 where they ran a restrauant out of the lower portion of the barn and monthly barn dances were held.   The Mannings ran the restrauant and monthly dances until the year 2000 when they closed it. - Vonnie and Kevin Petesch retired from the Air Force after 25 years  in 2007 and prior to retiring in Bellevue Iowa purchased the barn on October 4, 2006.  Their first dance was Veteran's Day, November 11, 2006 with the band Country Tradition playing.  The Petesch's goal was to bring Tradition Country Music dances back to the barn where they attended when they were 18 years old..  They are still having barn dances twice a month with the band Country Tradition playing from 7 to 11pm.  They will continue to have monthly dances as long as they can.  Please check the Schedule Tab on this website for upcoming dances or send them an email at or call them at 563-580-9497.
